Dear Friend,

2021 has been a whirlwind as we work to build a brighter DC for all of us!

We’ve accomplished so much with the support of friends, family, and community since launching the Erin Palmer for DC Council Chairwoman campaign in September.

In just three months, we’ve held more than 20 events with hundreds of neighbors across all eight wards, including:

Many Erin on Your Block (neighborhood walk) events across DC to see first-hand neighbors’ concerns, including traffic and community safety, green spaces and recreation, government services, and more.
Several Erin at Your Door (canvassing) events across DC, sharing information regarding our campaign directly with neighbors and listening and learning about the issues that matter to them.
More Erin in Your Backyard (meet and greet) events across DC, including one focused on education and another on transportation and traffic safety. Stay tuned for upcoming Erin in Your Backyard events, including several neighborhood-level events and one focused on how to meet our housing needs.

I’m thankful to spend time meeting with, listening to, and working on behalf of our friends and neighbors. Being present in our communities shows me how DC government can and should work better.

We’ve been all over DC, engaging with hundreds of DC residents.

This is just the beginning of our work to engage with DC residents. In the upcoming months, we will be focusing heavily on neighborhood walks, meet and greets, and sharing campaign literature. We will continue to be extremely diligent regarding Covid-19 and public health guidance, with a focus on outdoor and virtual events, requiring masks and social distancing, and requesting that all participants be vaccinated and boosted. We even received the coveted #CatsforErin and #DogsforErin endorsements. We fully support a #VoteWithYourPaws approach.

This race is extremely competitive, and we need your help to keep building momentum. In addition to being a two-person race between me and the incumbent, I’m the only candidate in the race for Council Chair — and the first-ever — to qualify for DC’s Fair Elections program.

So far, more than 90 percent of our donations are from DC residents. Together we’ve received donations from 20% more individual DC donors than the incumbent. We’ve also raised over $250,000 all while taking $0 from corporations. Meanwhile the incumbent has raised tens of thousands from corporations, PACs, and lobbyists.

Yet, institutional interests want to write us off as a “token” challenger or “invisible.” Let’s show them they’re wrong. Here are a few quick ways you can help:

If you haven’t maxed out your donation or if there are others in your household who haven’t donated, consider a small or recurring donation.
You can copy, paste, and personalize these draft text messages and/or draft email and send them to your family, friends, and neighbors.
Share on social media why you support the campaign, and share the donation link, campaign website, and/or campaign launch video and campaign donation video to help spread the word. Use #ErinforDC in all of your campaign-related posts.
